Meet Rempe Kooij from Dr. Axe Guitarworks, the luthier behind Gitaar Afstellen Utrecht.

Who is Rempe from Gitaar Afstellen Utrecht?

My musical journey started early. At the age of four I began playing the piano, and at thirteen, after watching a Roger Waters concert on TV and listening to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, I fell hopelessly in love with rock music – and with the guitar.

At the age of fifteen, I started my first band and have been active in the music industry ever since. I released six studio albums and performed nationally and internationally with various artists and bands, including Keith Caputo (Life of Agony, USA) and Grammy-nominated artists Dave “Rave” DesRoches (Teenage Head, CA) and Lauren Agnelli (Washington Squares, USA). Currently, I play in tribute and rock bands such as One After 909 (a Beatles tribute), The Sound Undercover, The Still Traveling Wilburys and Kaspar Baum. I have over 25 years of experience working in music shops, both in the Netherlands and abroad, including Staffhorst, Feedback, Key Music, Guitar Center (USA) and Max Guitar. During that time I specialised in sound engineering and guitar repair. With the rise of large online retailers, I decided to start working independently. I now bring my knowledge and experience to my workshop in Utrecht.

With Gitaar Afstellen Utrecht, I want my customers to rediscover the joy and love of playing guitar. Whether you have an original Fender from the sixties or a budget guitar, they are all equally valuable to me. I’ll do my best to get the most out of your guitar.
